It is an interesting time in the UK Job security is at a low and things like the amount of morgage deals on offer are less. Things are improving in some sectors still not great but slowly slowly Business confidence is -36 compared to -65, Manufacturing PMI (Purchasing managers index) was 51,9 compare to 52.5 previous month anything above 50 is expansion. Service PMI (Purchasing mangers index) was 52.1 back in growth from 48.8 the previous month and services make up a large part of the UK economy. Consumer Confidence was at -17 compared to -23 so improving but not fantastic. Retail sales are at 1 previous month 1.2. My point is that the economy is fragile little improvement in parts of the economy and some green shoots some contraction in others. Housing is pretty flat, although there is some growth in morgage approvals. The wrong moves with the Budget could be the making or breaking of the UK economy is my point. The economy needs a shot of adrenaline and tender loving care, not punishment. The last thing we need is to start to lose jobs in the service sector. I would not like the government’s job at this point in economic history.

Homework: Daily bar chart: 15, 30, 60 and 100 moving averages are they diverging or converging, crossing over, acting as resistance above the market or support below the market? Where are the long-term moving averages? Trendlines: are any of the markets being squeezed sideways, waiting for a breakout to the upside or downside and if so, what are the resistance and support levels with trendlines? Are their any patterns emerging? Gaps: what sort of gaps are they? Stochastics?
